Basketball Giveback: Reach One Teach One

I always believed that the real reward in life is not how much one can  attain in this lifetime but, the real reward is how you can impact others lives and giveback to those who are less fortunate. I was fortunate to help bring our “Hoops For Hope” basketball project to life back in 2013. The program was how we would be able to go into 5 different cities and 30 barangays to be able to teach basketball and character building life skills to those who were less fortunate. It was one of the greatest experiences I  have ever been apart of. To be be able to reach out and touch lives through this wonderful game . The joy of seeing these children line up each  early Saturday  mornings just to be able to be taught the game that we all passionately love. Each Saturday before we start training we would sit the players down and have our life talks with the word for the day.  Words would on Discipline, Importance of Time Management, Perseverance and Listening Skills. At the end of each session we would close out in our word for the day. I could not have been more blessed then to do a project like this.  The Hoops For Hope  provides support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations. I was inspired to start the foundation because he wanted to give back to underserved communities and support issues of purpose. I can’t just let basketball define who I am and what I am supposed to become. Like my mother always tells me, “my life is bigger than basketball.” This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and truly blessed to be a part of it
